Heritage Elementary School
With the kind of growth Washington School District is experiencing, NWL Architects has worked closely with the Board of Education to design a prototypical elementary school plan that can be modified as needs and geographical location might dictate. Heritage Elementary School is the latest member of this prototype group. Critical elements that are necessary in creating a wonderful educational environment for students have been carefully refined. To date, eleven elementary schools have been designed and constructed with the “Standard Elementary School Plan” in effect. Each school has been modified slightly to accommodate differing building sites. The elementary school buildings are designed for kindergarten through fifth grade. The schools are constructed of integrally colored cast on site, tilt-up concrete. The flexibility that concrete offers in form, texture, and color has allowed these buildings to blend with and sit comfortably within their context.day learning. Interior finishes are durable yet playful in the use of color, texture and form.
